The Foundations of Educational Leadership will introduce leaders to the concepts and principals of educational leadership. This course will provide learners with an overview of the roles of educational leaders and the impact of educational leadership on the society and educational system. Education leaders vary when it comes to the classification of a leader. Nevertheless this course will provide the necessary information needed for you to better understand Educational Leadership.

2021-2 EDLD5022 TRENDS AND ISSUES IN EDUCATION

This course will immerse students in activities to assess major educational changes and assess the implications of these interventions. Major policy documents such as the Education Sector Strategy 2012-2016, the Belize Education Sector Reform Project, and the Education Quality Improvement Project will be analyzed to assess impact and implications for quality educational delivery in Belize. This course also examines a framework to address the emerging issues and trends in administration and supervision that have the potential to significantly influence the future direction of education. It describes how the educational leader can address emerging issues and trends, build the necessary leadership competence to respond to these issues and trends, and develop into a more accountable leader who can deal effectively with the need for school reform. Students will also be introduced to emerging trends and issues in todays schools and the impact they can have on school leadership. It is designed to assist the student develop the leadership skills necessary to address the potential controversy likely to emerge from these issues and trends.

2021-2 EDLD5051 QUANTITATIVE APPROACH IN RESEARCH

This course will provide advanced training in quantitative research methods with topics designed for students in gaining a deeper understanding of the concepts and principles of quantitative methodologies. Students will also acquire advanced skills in research in education, social sciences, and humanities. They will develop competence in quantitative techniques through authentic experiences in study design, data collection, and management, as well as the analysis and interpretation of data.

2021-2 EDLD5052 FUTURE OF EDUCATION

Education is essential to social and economic development, especially for citizens in developing countries. The future is changing so dramatically and quickly that it poses more challenges for current educational leaders. They are educating students for the unknown. Hence, educational leaders need to explore the necessary changes and challenges that their educational systems are faced with now; and how innovation can be used to inform their future.
