2020-1 CUTL5001 TEACHING AND LEARNING IN HIGHER EDUCATION
This course examines approaches to teaching and learning within the higher education context. It will allow students to deepen their understanding of models that relate teaching to student learning so that they become more aware of students' approaches to their own learning and the influences of the learning environment on students’ learning. Students will also consider their personal philosophies of teaching and learning, as well as what it means to be an educator in the postmodern era.

CUTL5002 ASSESSMENT IN HIGHER EDUCATION
This course provides participants with knowledge of the purpose of assessment, types of assessment, and the techniques for implementing appropriate assessment strategies to evaluate student learning in the higher education context. The course also addresses the construction of tests and examinations and emphasizes the use of feedback to participants. The principles of constructive alignment (Biggs, 2003) will be used to evaluate alignment of course learning outcomes, assessment tasks, and teaching and learning activities. Participants will relate the features of effective assessment to course/s they are teaching, with attention to issues of equity, validity and grading efficiencies.
CUTL5004 REFLECTIVE PRACTICE
This course explores reflective practice and the power reflection has in shaping our approach to teaching. Through readings, discussion, and critical analysis of and reflection on your own and others’ practice, you will explore what it means to be a teacher, what you know about yourself, learning, your learners, and the ways in which context interacts with learning.
