2020-1 AAGR1141O AGRICULTURE FIELD AND WORKPLACE PRACTICE I

The course is designed to provide a rationale of field operation. This course will allow the student to acquire concepts based on four (4) major sections of a Farming System. They include: Crop, Livestock, Tissue Culture and maintenance of farm machinery and tools. These four sections complement each other, since tools are required to be handled at the Crops/Tissue culture and Livestock section. The following areas are studied: Horticulture Nursery, Crops, farm animals (poultry, pigs, sheep, fish and bees) grain production and farm tools. This allows the students to see the importance of planning in an integrated farming system. Lectures on pesticides and calculation of dosages for crops are also covered. The impact of pesticides on the environment and human health hazard is also discussed
