ACTG5101 ACCOUNTING FOR DECISION MAKING
This course provides the learner with an overview of accounting concepts and the use of accounting information by decision makers. It will expose them to the two major areas of accounting, financial accounting and cost and management accounting. The financial accounting section will focus on the nature and scope of financial accounting, financial reporting (income statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flows), analysis of financial statements and working capital management. The cost and management accounting section will focus on costing principles and systems, budgeting and budgetary control systems and the development and use of cost data for external reporting and internal cost management. The overall emphasis of this course would be to focus learners’ attention on the development of accounting data in ambiguous situations to assist managers in decision-making about future activities.
