BIOL1102 GENETICS
Genetics is a course designed for students pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory. This course introduces the students to the basic principles of classical genetics involving the work of Mendel, exceptions & extensions of Mendelian genetics, the study of informational macromolecules and how they direct molecular processes in both eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells. Topics include structure and functions of DNA, organizations of DNA in chromosomes, RNA, gene transcription and expression, factors causing variations in the genetic material. Modern genetics and its applications like cloning, recombinant DNA technology, DNA sequencing.
