2020-2 BMLS3352 APPLIED CLINICAL IMMUNOHEMATOLOGY I
This course emphasizes the blood transfusion concept and principles. These include antigen - antibody reactions based on the genotype and phenotype of the red blood cells and plasma within a person. These are directly related to the different blood groups that exist within the human populations and are expressed according to the pattern of inheritance. Blood grouping, compatibility tests and component selection process are covered extensively along with quality control standards. The laboratory component of the course will be used to develop the skills required to perform blood bank procedures.
