2020-2 BAGR3372 PLANT HEALTH AND PEST MANAGEMENT

This course will develop awareness of the significance of crop production problems and provide an understanding of the principles of conventional and novel approches to control. It covers the biology, ecology and management of a variety of pests in agricultural ecosystems, especially arthropods, plant pathogens and weeds. It considers hat organisims and abiotic stresses causes diseases or reduce growth and the economic, environmental and social implications of disease and stress.

Cultural, biological, physical and chemical pest supression practices are considred with the frame work of the principles of integrated Pest Management (IPM). The key concepts of the course situations in problem solving sessions.

Finally, to develop an appreciation of factors that influence occurence and severity of weed, pest and disease outbrake, and to enable to recognize, evaluate and design appropriate strategies for control.
