2020-2 BIOL3362 BIOCHEMISTRY & MOLECULAR BIOLOGY

This course focuses on the molecular basis of biological processes, the interactions between biologically relevant molecules with the clear goal to reveal insights into functions and processes such as replication, transcription and translation of genetic material, as well as the high throughput technology, appropriate techniques, and current tools that allow for the application of biochemistry and molecular biology. Topics include cell culture techniques, recombinant DNA techniques and molecular cloning, preparative protein biochemistry, immunochemical techniques, restriction enzyme analyses, and fundamentals of bioinformatics. Students will be introduced to theoretical aspects of the subject with direct application to practical procedures used internationally by governments, and private and commercial entities.
