ECED1051 FOUNDATION OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
This course is designed to examine the guiding theories (theoretical, philosophical and social) perspective of early childhood education. Topics include: You and Early Childhood Education: Becoming a Professional, Early Childhood Education Today: Understanding and Responding to Current Issues, History and Theories: Foundations for Teaching and Learning, Implementing Early Childhood Programs: Applying Theories to Practice, Teaching Standards and You: Supporting Children’s Learning, Observing and Assessing Young Children: Guiding, Teaching and Learning. This course places emphasis on the foundation and theories to teach, understand, support and guide early childhood education. It teaches instructors through visual layouts and audio to enhance skills accompanied by learning guides to help guide instructors as they progress through each skill. Upon completion of this course participants will be able conduct research on issue affecting the early childhood education program in Belize, conduct classroom observation and write their philosophy of Early Childhood Education.
