2021-1 ANTH1014 INTRODUCTION TO ANTHROPOLOGY

ANTH 1014 introduces students to the field of Anthropology. This is a broad and diverse field, therefore Introduction to Anthropology aims to provide students with content that spans from the study of human lifeways, past and present, to human biological and cultural diversity. Anthropology will provide students with a holistic understanding of the human species by integrating research from the pillars of the discipline: Biological, Archaeological, Linguistic, and Cultural Anthropology. These four subfields bring forth certain historical and contemporary aspects of ourselves that are essential for understanding our role as individuals in society and the world as a whole. Through lectures, discussions, group work, as well as fieldwork, students will build skills and knowledge that will lay the foundation for understanding the universal underpinning of our societies, culture, and languages. This course fulfills all the required learning objectives for the Social Sciences core curriculum.
