2021-2 LITR2206 AFRICAN LITERATURE I

This course examines literature written in English by various African writers. It emphasizes the roles various African writers play in subverting Eurocentric and hegemonic accounts of their history by rewriting, recapturing and re-contextualizing their own history and significance. Texts will be read for their literary and aesthetic value, taking into account specific historical terms and conditions of their literary production.
