2022-1 BIOL3302L LOWER PLANTS LAB
Students are exposed to the practical components of lower plants namely the cyanobacteria, green algae, red algae, liverworts, hornworts, mosses, club mosses, whisk ferns, horsetails, and ferns. They are also provided with reasons why some groups are now not considered green plants. The course provides the first introduction to botany on the degree course and is a broad study on the structure, function and classification of lower plants and complements the further course of higher plants later in the program. This acquired knowledge is reinforced by laboratory and supported by field activities by using local examples as much as possible.
