MISSION AND VISION


MISSION 


The Office of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) provides stakeholders: students, businesses, working professionals, both national and international, with quality non-credited and credited courses and programs. These courses and programs are developed internally and also in partnerships with other institutions and businesses. 


VISION


The Office of Open and Distance Learning will be the University's hub for the development of quality credited and non-credited Continuing and Higher Education programs and courses. It will house the human and technical resources needed for the efficient management of online course development and delivery across the university. 


CORE VALUES


The core values for the Office of Open and Distance Learning provide the principles that guide the unit as it aims to achieve its mission and vision on a daily basis through its business processes. 

Customer Focus and Service

The Office of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) strives to be customer focus through serving its customer needs to improve customer satisfaction. It aims to provide quality customer service in a timely fashion.

Team Spirit and Team Work

The Office of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) aims to provide a working atmosphere to help foster team-building spirit and teamwork among staff members, the University, and external stakeholders.

Innovative

The Office of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) aims at nurturing creative and innovative thinkers to help motivate and lead the University Community into the new E-Learning era.

The Office of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and every member of its office is expected to be professional at all times when serving customers.

Adaptability

The Office of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) must be able to adapt to the ever-changing technology within the E-Learning scope to charter the way and lead the University community in Open and Distance Learning.

Good Governance and Integrity

The Office of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) aims at practicing good governance when making and implementing decisions relating to E-Learning. ODL will adhere to the rules and policies of the University of Belize, be accountable, transparent, responsive, equitable, and efficient, and provide opportunities for participation of the community in the decisions process.



Education is the vehicle for personal and social development and the means whereby students examine values and forge their identities, becoming successful individuals and contributing members of their communities.
